Match Report: Yorkshire Post: 22nd April 1920:

LEEDS UNITED v MEXBOROUGH TOWN.

Very little interest was shown in this return League fixture, played on the Leeds United last evening. The home club tried a new goalkeeper, but the experiment was not a success. Reader did well for Mexborough, but for his smartness the score against the visitors would have been heavier. Mexborough took the lead at the end of four minutes, Redfern easily putting the ball into the net.. After twenty minutes play the home outside left was going through the Town defence when he was unfairly brought down, and Rodgers equalised from the ensuing spot kick. Mexborough took the lead again five minutes before the interval by the aid of Holroyd. The second half exchanges greatly favoured the United, a glaring sun being in the eyes of their opponents. Colston equalised the scores and Butler headed through a well-placed flag kick, while before the end Fawcett scored a fourth goal for United.

Half-time score :-

Leeds United 1 goal Mexborough Town 2 goal
